TALK STORY

My brothers and sister and I were born wild, lived like kids raised by wolves and grew to thrive in perpetual pursuit of critter love and pink elephant clouds. Vividly, I remember sunburnt twilights wandering the shores of Lake Shasta, squeezing off Kodachrome with the family Kodak as bats performed perfect evening aerials overhead. I was twelve and already awkwardly aware of my life dream unfolding before me. A life to be shared with wild critters and heart-renting landscapes.

My first art teacher/mentor/co-conspirator Bob Gordon had fueled my drive into watercolors, ceramics, contour-line drawings, and etchings; all-things-traditional-art. Still desperate for a solution to executing the complex visions that fiendishly filled my head, I took up photography. But, only as an appurtenance. I envisioned photos to add structure, then layered-in water colors, contour line drawings and etchings for clarity. I still do. I carried a camera everywhere.

It had been years since Mr. Gordon and I contemplated the future of art and photography. I’d gone on to study art and photography and film making. I’d traveled the world as a Navy Diver and Recon battalion photographer, and become an accomplished shooter within the single-shot slide community. Disregarding the limitations of film & slide photography, I continued to shoot panoramas and composites, and filled notebooks as I sketched complex scenes I had no intention of attempting at the time.

Somehow I knew that one day I would. It baffles me now, how I knew. I never took the thought any further than just knowing. But, putting dreams to paper simply didn’t exist as I had seen them. And rather than limit my visions to fit within existing styles, I commenced developing the new styles necessary to do justice to the visions I had experienced.

The VISUAL STYLES you see showcased on this site are the results. I hope these styles help you better voice your own dreams, and ultimately share with us your unique spin on this magical mystery we call life.

Thanks for the visit. You’re welcome at my fire anytime,
